Welcome to an Introduction to Data Protection. This training is for all civil servants and requires no prior knowledge. It covers the basics of the Data Protection Act, including key terms and the Data Protection Principles, the CIG Privacy Framework, and your important role as a civil servant.

We will highlight:

  • The principle-based approach to data protection
  • Our privacy values and why data protection is important
  • Definitions of key terms and roles within the Civil Service
  • Your role as a civil servant and where you can learn more

Do you handle personal data in your role? Do you want to have a better understanding of your responsibilities to maintain the trust of the people we serve? Do you want to know what to do if you suspect there has been unauthorised access to personal data, or if you lose your government laptop? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you’ve come to the right place.

Please complete the registration form below before you commence the training – failure to do so may result in you being asked to repeat the training as information regarding your course completion will not be captured by your department.
